What is long day care?
Long day care, sometimes called daycare, is centre based care across a full working day. At Kindoo it runs from 7am to 6.30pm, so there is room for an early drop off and a relaxed pick up either side of work.
Long day care and sessional care
The difference at Kindoo is that you choose a session length rather than paying for a flat eleven hour day. If a 7.5 or 10 hour session covers your day, that is what you book and pay for.

Arrival and free play

Learning program and outdoor time

Lunch, rest and quiet time
MiddayThe lunch you have packed from home, followed by rest or quiet activities, matched to each child's needs.
Afternoon program to 6.30pm
AfternoonMore play and learning, afternoon tea, and a calm wind down until collection by 6.30pm.
What is included in a full day
- A full learning program. Play based learning, group experiences and outdoor time, documented for you in the Xplor app.
- Rest and quiet time. A calm space and routine so younger children can sleep and older ones can recharge.
- Everyday essentials. Nappies and wipes for younger children as advised, sunscreen, and all the equipment for a busy day.
Families pack their child's own meals and snacks. We will give you a short what to pack list, including food, a drink bottle, a hat, spare clothes and a comfort item, when you enrol.
Long day care fees and the Child Care Subsidy
You pay for the session you book, and the Child Care Subsidy of up to 95% is applied on top. For most families that brings the daily out of pocket cost down significantly.

What ages do you take for long day care?
Kindoo takes children from 6 months to 6 years in long day care, across babies, toddlers and preschoolers, with rooms and routines suited to each age group.
Can I book a single full day?
Yes. You can book a single casual full day when there is availability, or hold permanent days each week. Both attract the Child Care Subsidy.
What happens if I am running late for pick up?
Pick up is by 6.30pm. If you are held up, call the centre and let us know. Your child stays safe and settled with an educator until you arrive, and late collection is handled kindly.
Do I need to pack food?
Yes. Families provide their child's meals and snacks for the day. Pack enough food and a labelled drink bottle, and tell us about any allergies so we can store, serve and supervise mealtimes safely.
